A Very Special Live Episode of Waste or Taste!
The end of Drake, the coming of Addison Rae, and the mystical urgency of Oklou—all in front of a live audience

Talking about music with your friends, trying to make them laugh, and playfully arguing about albums and songs—these are some of the best parts of working at a music website. With our podcast Waste or Taste, we capture that kind of unfiltered banter between longtime critics and friends, and invite you to listen along.
The concept is simple: Every episode, three Hearing Things founders each bring a new song to the table and debate whether it’s Waste or Taste. Sometimes we will reach a critical consensus; other times it will be fisticuffs, absurdity, or both.
This time, a crowd serves as our fourth judge. Recorded in front of a live audience at the Wythe Hotel in Brooklyn during On Air Fest, Jill Mapes, Julianne Escobedo Shepherd, and Dylan Green decide whether new songs by Addison Rae, Drake, and Oklou are Waste or Taste—and also talk about the songs they want played at their funerals. Conversational side quests include the twisted logistics of putting a cigarette between your boobs, Drake's heinous Tinder bio, and why having a secret baby just might be the most ren faire thing someone could do.
Waste or Taste is a co-production of Hearing Things and 3dB. We’re produced by Mark Yoshizumi and Elia Einhorn. Special thanks to the organizers of On Air Fest and the crew behind this episode: Chioke L’Anson, Melissa Carter, Dmitry Grekov, and Matt Hunziker.
